Arine Knitted by Laila

Next out in the series of knitted by is the skilled Norwegian knitter and patron Laila, aka Troila on Ravelry, who took part in the test knit of Arine. Laila made size 2 and writes on her project page: “It was love at first sight! I wish I had the opportunity to get the original yarn for this project, but I’m too eager to get started at this point. I’m going to try “Mitu” from Rauma (already in my stash) and I really hope it will be close to the gauge I need. I’m very fond of this alpaca/wool blend and it is perfect for showing off textures. The color is not very exciting, but I can always make a lime green or shock pink next time, right?”

I love how cool Laila looks wearing the sweater and how beautifully knitted it is! Among her detailed notes on the project page you can read: “Finally, for the neckband I was thrilled to find very detailed instructions on how many stitches to pick up from the different parts of the neck – no guesswork at all!” I am so thrilled to hear it, thank you so much, Laila!

Laila ends her notes with: “I am very surprised at how fast this project was finished and how much I enjoyed making it, and in fact I already bought a different yarn to do it all over again! I can’t stop admiring the finished object. It looks a lot more complicated than it is to make it, and I can’t wait to tell anyone who asks that I made it myself”.

How marvellous that you might make yet another, Laila! Thank you so much! Arine is knitted with a gauge of 19 stitches and 28 rows in Stockinette stitch using 4.5 mm/US 7 needle measuring 10 cm/4” square after blocking. I have graded the pattern in sizes 1 to 9 with a bust circumference of 93 to 164 cm/36.5 to 64.5”. You will find the pattern available in English, German, Danish and Norwegian on Ravelry.
