Trådfestivalen – Report

Here is my report from the new festival called “Trådfestivalen”/Thread Festival at Oslo Metropolitan University, organised by “Estetiske fag“! At the first day of the festival, Tuesday 8th of July, I visited to have a look at the space where I would be teaching cable knitting two days in the following week. All the courses, except for the Knitting Help and my cable knitting ones (who had 20 spaces), were fully booked. The sewing courses had been the most popular according to the organisers. Above you see a photo from the Wood Carve Your Crochet Hook & Knitting Needles course.

For the full program, see my previous post about the festival. Above are the different courses on offer, that you had to sign on for.

Several looms were set up for any volunteers to have a go at; one of them was recently assembled from the university’s own Textile Collection. While the different weaving courses were fully booked. But there were activities that anybody could join such as Common Embroidery; a 150-year celebration piece where contributions were wanted.

Spinning, embroidery and weaving in progress.

I held two courses in cable knitting; one for beginners and one for intermediate knitters. Above you see the Cable Knitting Masterclass group, in deep concentration. Everyone on my courses and the ones I spoke to enjoyed the festival hence hoping it would become an annual event.

I enjoyed meeting knitters I knew and new ones, as well as the other course holders plus the organisers! I had some fabulous days and want to thank both the knitters attending my courses as well as the organisers!
