I am just back home after a successful Knit City Vancouver from September 26 to 28, 2025! It was a blast! I taught 3 workshops; Cable Knitting Masterclass, Professional Finishing and Smart Knitting Techniques – the last two were fully booked while the first had 16 attendees (hence 4 spaces left) on Friday afternoon. Luckily I was teaching at the hotel where I was staying: The Atrium Inn, about 6 kilometres from downtown Vancouver and across the street from PNE Forum where the market hall was located at the weekend.
Knitters had travelled far from different places in Canada but also from the US – mainly California – and one all the way from Denmark. I also had the opportunity to meet up with knitters I knew from Ravelry and my patron Patricia Bell, aka Bellllama on Ravelry (yes, she used to keep llamas). Patricia flew in from Saskatchewan, rented a car to take me sightseeing as she has worked many years in Vancouver, and stayed at the luxurious Pan Pacific Hotel downtown.

Patricia came to meet me after my first workshop and we drove to her 5-star hotel where she had a view of the skyscrapers downtown, together with a restricted sea view, where we had room service, before heading back to the Knit Night at the PNE.
Knit City Vancouver celebrated 14 years at the PNE, as next year it will be at a new venue. We had cakes and pop corn, there was a cash bar, knitters could present their garments (show & tell), Amanda & Fiona (organisers of Knit City) gave a speech and drew a number of winners of the raffle we all had received a ticket for when entering.
Above is the Koigo stand. In the market hall there were not only vendors but also a knitting lounge – provided by SweetGeorgia – a winding station and a separate area for emerging makers (new vendors). PNE is an old ice hockey rink, turned into an exhibition space – you can still glimpse the seating in the top right corner.
T-shirts, project bags and sweatshirts with Knit City on were for sale at the organisers stand. You can also find them on sale online.
Here is a photo of the impressive SweetGeorgia stand. The hand dyed colours just blew my mind; no wonder their slogan is “unapologetic colour and craft since 2005”. There will be lots more to come in my October newsletter and vlogs from both KCV and SweetGeorgia on Patreon for my paid subscribers.
