I just love these happy photos of Austrian test knitter Evelyn Preis, aka freifrau1 on Ravelry and queermaschen on Instagram, wearing her Sigyn, back in 2018. The yarn she chose is the Rosy Green Wool Cheeky Merino Joy in Blackberry Sorbet with a Cornish Slate stripe at the bottom of body plus sleeves. Evelyn knitted the dress in size S using a 4 mm/US 6 needle with a 24 stitches and 35 rows gauge measuring 10 cm/4 inches after blocking.
The length of Sigyn was shortened to 104 cm/41 inches from 119 cm/46.75 inches with the last four decreases worked on every 10th row instead of every 14th. Thank you ever so much, Evelyn!
Here is my introduction to the pattern: Sigyn is Norse for victorious girl-friend and ideal for this a-line dress with a central swing cable, surrounded by ribbing to make it figure hugging. The cable is divided and moves towards the shoulder to make a v-neck at the front. Decreases are made in the purl sections to emphasise the silhouette of Sigyn. The dress is knitted in the bouncy Sølje from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.
The Sigyn pattern is available in sizes S to 2XL with a bust circumference of 88 to 130 cm/34.5 to 51 inches and a bottom width from 116 to 158 cm/45.5 to 62 inches in both English and Norwegian on Ravelry. Yarn kits are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.
