Maimi Knitted by Yael Katz

I would like to introduce the skilled test knitter Yael Katz, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Swiss Yarn Festival, as she lives in Switzerland. Yael was wearing Maimi, when she turned up for my Japanese Pattern workshop, and brought her latest test knit Kaen! I was so honoured to be able to see her Maimi worn by her and the nearly finished Kaen (knitted in Knit Picks Swish DK)!

Yael has been test knitting for me for several years after replying to a test knit call back in 2022. Above you see a photo from her project page on Ravelry, where she is Yskatz. Her Maimi is knitted in size 2 with the beautiful Julie Asselin Leizu DK yarn and accidentally made the ribbing on the body slightly longer. Thank you so much, Yael!

Named Maimi, Japanese for smiling with truth, is this sweater adorned with travelling cables, framed with a single cable in each side. Each body part has several cable repeats, while the sleeve only has only one. The pullover is crowned by a twisted rib neckband that ends in a tubular bind off. Maimi is knitted in the soft Norwegian lambswool yarn Sol from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Yarn kits are available directly online from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The Maimi pattern is available in sizes 1 to 9, with a bust circumference of 93 to 164 cm/36.5 to 64.5 in, with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in Stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm/US 4 needle, in English, German, Danish and Norwegian on Ravelry and LoveCrafts.
