Let me show you the SweetGeorgia Yarns film studio, where I was captured teaching the Advanced Cables Course last September in Vancouver. All these photos are taken by SweetGeorgia Yarns. Here is the welcome to the Advanced Cables Course at SOS: “Cables have a way of captivating even non-knitters. Watching knitted fabric twist and move, creating bold, sculptural shapes, is simply incredible. Our eyes naturally follow the intricate patterns as they emerge (continues below the Yua Cowl in Brass photo).
It is also easy to see why many knitters find cables intimidating, but they do not have to be. Led by knitwear designer Linda Marveng, Advanced Cables develops our understanding of reading cable charts, which helps the process become surprisingly straightforward, turning cable knitting into a relaxing, meditative experience. In the course lessons, we’ll knit five cabled swatches, introducing new techniques while exploring design possibilities, then finish with Linda’s included Yua Cowl pattern!”
I was filmed by 4 cameras: 2 mounted cameras; one at the stand in front of me, while the other was in the ceiling + another 2 cameras; one held by Education Program Coordinator Greta Cornejo and the other by Founder + Creative Director Felicia Lo. Greta knitted the Yua Cowl in the gorgeous Brass colour and is the modell in the photo above.
The accompanying workbook contains the pattern for the swatches to be made including a short summary of each chapter.
The Yua Cowl is made in Merino Worsted made of 100% easy-care merino wool with 182 m/200 yards on each 115 gram skein. It is knitted using a 4.5 mm/US 9 needle and a 20 stitches and 28 rows gauge in stockinette stitch measuring 10 cm/4 inches square after blocking.
