Next out in the series knitted by is Sirona made by Heather, aka hoprbm on Ravelry with her second Sirona knitted in New Lanark Wool & Textiles Aran 100% Wool in size XS aiming for S/M.
Heather bought some Aran yarn for something else but could not get gauge, hence she started looking for another pattern. On her project page she writes: “I kept coming back to the Sirona, wondering if I could just do it in the aran weight yarn… and last week just decided to go for it!”
The Heathery Sirona sweater was worked by using a 4 mm/US 6 needle and a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle for the bottom ribbing, while using larger needles for the modified turtle neck. I love this version and the stunning colour she chose!
Heather ends her project page with: “The temperature dropped and I wore this for the first time today! Very happy. And it matches my new North Face jacket from REI (could not resist the color)!” Thank you ever so much for knitting it a second time and for these fabulous photos!
Here is my introduction to the pattern: Sirona is Celtic for Star Goddess, the name for this fitted pullover with an intricate central cable surrounded with smaller cables and double seed stitch. The round neckline needed a crown and was given an I-cord bind off decoration. Sirona is knitted in pieces in the divine The Fibre Co. Cumbria.
The Sirona pattern is available in sizes XS to 3XL with a bust circumference of 86 to 126 cm/33.75 to 49.5″ knitted with a gauge of 20 stitches and 28 rows in stockinette stitch using a 4 mm/US 6 needle measures 10 cm/4″ square on Ravelry and LoveCrafts.
