Finally, I can show you my new design, the Yua Cowl made for SweetGeorgia Yarns in their lovely Merino Worsted to accompany the digital Advanced Cables Course for School of SweetGeorgia filmed in Vancouver last September. The cowl is reversible with staghorn cables in ribbing, with garter stitches on each side and a double knitted edge. Each end is grafted together to join the infinity scarf.

The first sample I made (yes, I have made two so far) was in the colour way Huckleberry and it is a gorgeous purple. The Merino Worsted is made of 100% easy-care merino wool with 182 m/200 yards on each 115 gram skein. I knitted the Yua Cowl using a 4.5 mm/US 9 needle and a 20 stitches and 28 rows gauge in stockinette stitch measuring 10 cm/4 inches square after blocking.

Yua, which is Japanese for “bound by love and affection”, is a reversible cowl with staghorn cables worked in ribbing with garter stitch for contrast and a double-knit band for a neat edge. Wear this cowl once around your neck as a knitted statement or twice for warmth.
