I have been looking forward to sharing another of my name sister Linda Orvedal’s projects, this time her beautiful Kaen (first top-down design, I made).

Linda, aka Linorve on Ravelry, test knitted it for me using Solberg Garn Vilja (100% Ecological Wool, 50 g, 175 m/191 yds). She made size 3 but due to a tighter gauge than the 20 stitches and 28 rows in stockinette stitch measuring 10 cm/4 inches square, it ended up in size 2. The pattern is available in sizes 1 to 9 with a bust circumference of 93 to 169 cm/36.5 to 66.5 inches. In addition she added some waist shaping to it and a wider neckband, for more details you can read her project notes.

Here is my introduction to the pattern: Kaen – Japanese for flower garden – is a top down seamless pullover adorned with blooming cables and a set-in sleeve look. The large cable is framed by a small cable and a reversible stockinette stitch stripe around the round neck that ends in a twisted rib, just like the body. Kaen is knitted in the gorgeous Garna Nobilis – a fine lambswool yarn – held together with Cumulus – an extrafine cashmere and silk mixture.
