New Favourite Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Metalico

I have just discovered an incredibly gorgeous yarn. “Luxury as nature intended! Naturally occurring shades of baby alpaca blended with mulberry silk create an undyed shimmering palette of gleaming whites to silvery grays and flecked golds” well said and done by Blue Sky Alpacas. The shade platinum photographed below is a divine grey-brown. It comes in 50 g skeins with approximately 134 m/147 yds, consisting of 50% alpaca and 50% mulberry silk, recommended knitting needles are 3.25 to 3.75 mm/US 3 to 5. I love how it feels on my hand, like stroking a tiny kitten. I can not show you what I am knitting at the moment, but it will be revealed this autumn. 1. I recently swatched a mini animal with this amazing yarn. It is gorgeous and soft and I can’t wait to see your pattern cause I really want to knit myself something with this!

  2. I have had my eye on this yarn since it came out! I might just buy a skein to swatch with. They stock it at my local yarn store . . .

    • Yes, I would like to see all the remaining colours now and love the fact that they are all natural! That sounds terribly tempting, Ruth! Yet another reason for me to keep an eye on your great blog!

  3. I adore knitting with Alpaca, it feels like I am knitting with a kitten on my lap! Alas, living in Southern California, Alpaca isn’t practical to knit garments with. But I make the occasional teddy bear, rabbit or Kitty for children of friends.

    • Absolutely, right! I adore this kitten of a yarn I am working with at the moment! Yes, it must be way too warm to wear in Southern California! Yes a soft toy sounds like a great idea! Thank you for reading, Mary Ann!
