Celie Pattern Released

The next pattern I have released on Ravelry is Celie, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The oversized long dress has been test knitted by my very skilled testers who have not only made some stunning versions of the pattern but also improved the pattern. Celie is knitted in the airy Ask by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk who also sells yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern. The digital pattern is available in sizes XS to 5XL with a 115 to 185 cm/45.25 to 72.75″ bust.

Named Celie, of Greenlandic decent, is this oversized long dress with dropped shoulders and vents. A check pattern covers the dress to give it texture except for the sides which has a stripe of stockinette stitch. Celie is worked in the round on the middle part and then back and forth again on the shoulders, for the armholes. The sleeves are worked top down. The dress ends in a double collar, crowned by an I-cord the check pattern low collar rises. Celie is knitted in the airy Ask by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The sample dress was brilliantly knitted by Nadja Bresky, aka 77stricknadel on Ravelry, using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square.

In these photos you see the gorgeous Emmalin Williams, with make-up & hair by Janne Skarpeid Hermansen and Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by Wenche Hoel-Knai at her old studio at Ensjø in Oslo, last December. Emmalin is wearing size S with a 120 cm/47.25″ bust circumference, with 37 cm/14.5” positive ease.

The dress is worked from the bottom up in two pieces to the end of the vents, then joined and worked in the round to the sleeve opening. The remaining is worked back and forth to the shoulders. Only the shoulders are seamed together to give the dress a bit of structure. The sleeves are worked top down in the round. The I-cord is worked before the collar that also ends in an I-cord.

I chose to style the skirt with boots by Monica Stålvang. The English and the Norwegian pattern will also soon be available on LoveCrafts.
