Jari Knitted by Julia

Next out in the series is Jari knitted by Canadian Julia, aka Knitnosh on Ravelry, for June in KDD & Co (Kate Davies Design), Milarrochy Tweed. This is a finer yarn than the original Ask yarn by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk but worked out perfectly. The oversized pullover looks fabulous on June and I love these photos!

Julia writes on her project page: “t looks huge on me, but once it is seamed and the collar is on, it will not look quite so massive. Those cables are terrific. I have truly enjoyed knitting this so far. Both pattern and yarn.” She made size Medium using 3.75 mm/US 5 to achieve the gauge of 22 stitches and 32 rows in stockinette stitch measures 10 cm/4 inches square after blocking. After gifting the pullover, Julia writes: “Gifted…and loved! So happy and it fit so well!” Thank you so much to Julia and June!

Here is my introduction to the pattern: Named Jari, Norse for fighter, is this oversized pullover with a bottom tuck, a Celtic cable front panel and a high collar. Unlike the front the back has only the two small center cables. The sleeves are knitted in stockinette stitch but end in a cuff. Jari ends like it began with double seed stitch, but the collar is crowned with an I-cord. The pullover is knitted in the airy Norwegian combed wool yarn Ask by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The Jari pattern is available in sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 111 to 179 cm/43.75 to 70.5 inches in English and Norwegian on Ravelry and LoveCrafts. Yarn kits are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.
