New Design: Hodd

The next new design I will show you is a long A-line vest made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk  in Ask. I enjoyed knitting the cable on the Oráiste dress and wanted to use it once more this time for a closed sleeveless pullover. The colour I chose for it is a dark terracotta 6503. My brilliant sample knitter & patron Airin Hansen knitted this sample for me in size S with a bust measurement of 90 cm/35.5″ using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square. In these photos taken by my husband in our front garden in Ørje back in November, I am wearing it with 2 cm/0.75″ positive ease.

Here I am trying to get my hair out of my face, while wearing a belt over the vest. I have graded the vest in sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 83 to 155 cm/32.75 to 61″.

Named Hodd, Norse for hair, is this long A-line vest with two central cables that flow along both the front and the back. The vest is knitted in pieces and begins just like it ends with a garter stitch band around the crew neck as well as the armholes. Hodd is knitted in the airy Norwegian combed wool yarn from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, called Ask.

The pattern will be available in both English and Norwegian after test knitting set to begin in August. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern will be available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk soon. Before the test knit begins I look forward to showing you how stunning it looked on Model Olivia Lindtein at our photoshoot at Sentralen in Oslo back in December last year.
