Beyla Knitted by Anne Thomas

Let me introduce you to test knitter and patron Anne Thomas, aka annemade1 on Ravelry, from Australia. She used to knit as a teenager and picked up her needles again during a shoulder injury that kept her resting for six months. Anne test knitted Beyla for me and choose to make it in the Australian yarn Bendigo Woollen Mills Rustic 12 Ply. Due to the thicker yarn she knitted it with a larger needle a 5 mm/US 8 instead of the recommended 4.5 mm/US 7 needle. Anne began with a size L and changed to an XL without any further modifications. Her stunning result is photographed where she lives in rural Gippsland, Victoria on 5 acres with husband, cat and two dogs.

Bendigo Woollen Mills Rustic 12 Ply is a softly twisted yarn in pure wool with 260 meters/294 yards per each 200 gram ball. The recommended needle size is 6 mm/US 10, but Anne used a 5 mm/US 8 needle to achieve the gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows in stockinette stitch measures 10 cm/4″ square for this project.

Here is a photo of the back. Thank you so much for sharing these lovely photos, Anne!

My introduction to the project is as follows: Named Beyla, Norse for little bean, well suited for the shape of the cables on this pullover. All over cables play on the front and back, while only three cables play on the sleeve. The purl stitches in the background make the sweater hug you. Beyla is crowned by a standing collar and knitted in Varde a bouncy pelt wool yarn from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The pattern is available in sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 85 to 153 cm/33.5 to 60″. Yarn kits with an English or Norwegian pattern can be ordered online from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. While the individual pattern is available to download in English or Norwegian from my Ravelry Store or soon on LoveCrafts.
