Ruby Snood Pattern Released

I designed a large drapey snood in a luscious tencel, which feels like silk, for my Norwegian knitting book: To rett en vrang. Designstrikk. Ruby Snood was stunningly worn by dancer Francesca Golfetto, with hair & make up by Line Sekkingstad and brilliantly photographed by Kim Müller. The English pattern is now available in my Ravelry Store. Here is my introduction to the Ruby Snood: Cone after cone, color after color of luscious Tencel 8/2 at Handweavers Studio in London made my feel like the ground vanished from under me. I managed to short list a few colors and favoured this deep glossy red color, Ruby for a snood. You can wear it in different ways as a top, hood, belt or as a cowl. Find your own favourite color or make your own melange color!

Notes: The snood is knitted with double yarn in the round, and is made with a provisional cast-on method so it can be grafted together. Or use an ordinary cast-on and mattress stitch together if preferred. Stripes of st st and reverse st st are made by turning the work.

Cable On Scarf Pattern Released

The Cable On Scarf, first published in Norwegian in Familien 2/2015, is now available in English in my Ravelry Store. It was the first in my series of reversible scarves that look equally good as a loose collar and the later designs have their own collars added onto the scarf. Here is my introductions to it: The cable on scarf is reversible, made in rib instead of the usual stocking stitch, framed by double seed stitch on every edge. Distinctive Stag Horn cables give the generous scarf texture and depth. Why not use it as a decorative warm collar pinned together by a shawl pin. The sample is knitted in a natural grey shade of the beautiful Norwegian Pelt Yarn/Norsk Pelsull by Hifa.

Lattice Back Jacket Pattern Released

It has been awhile since the test knit of the Lattice Back Jacket was finished, but I have finally released the English pattern in my Ravelry Store with video links and a detailed schematic. You can see all the different versions and the different yarn the test knitters selected on the pattern page (see the first link). The pattern was first published in Norwegian in the magazine Made by Me 2/2014. Above it is gorgeously worn by Pia Cecilie/Team Models, beautifully hair and make up styled by Janne Skarpeid Hermansen, stunningly styled by Makeløs/Remarkable Kristin Elise Halkjelsvik and brilliantly photographed by Eivind Røhne/Beyond the Ice. Here follows my introduction to it: An intricate panel of rocking cables adorns the back of this elegantly fitted jacket, hence each front and sleeve has a series of accompanying small cables. The body of the jacket is knitted flat with hems, while the sleeves are worked in the round. The sample is worked in a beautiful heathered color in the bouncy Ask – Hifa 2.

Gauge: 20 sts x 28 rows in st st using 3.5 mm/US 4 measures 10 cm/4″ square. Rocking Cable Panel across 66 sts measures 22 cm/8.75″. Rocking Cable Panel over 36 rows measures 12 cm/4.75″. Small Back Cable Panel across 30 sts measures 10 cm/4″.

Notes: Each front is 1 cm wider than 1/2 the back circumference, to achieve symmetry, usual in typical vintage garments. This jacket is like vintage jackets very fitted, please compare your waist measurements to the size you need and adjust if necessary, to make sure it will fit.

Carla Coat Pattern Released

I am proud to announce that the test knit of the Carla Coat is finished, hence the English pattern is now available in my Ravelry Store with video links and a detailed schematic. You can see all the different versions and the different yarn the test knitters selected on the pattern page (see the first link). Above it is gorgeously worn by dancer Francesca Golfetto, beautifully styled by Line Sekkingstad, and brilliantly photographed by Kim Müller. The Norwegian pattern was published in Familien Strikk in August. Here is the introduction to it: My Carla shoes in wine by Monica Stålvang needed a coat to accompany them on an evening out. However, the shoes demanded quite a bit of drama to make the coat as stunning as the shoes. Norsk Pelsull/Pelt wool by Hifa in burgundy with its lustre was my first choice, but more volume and texture was necessary so combining it with Rowan Lima created the perfect texture and rich color. Ideal for a voluptuous braid framed by reverse stocking stitch and double seed stitch. The coat is crowned by a large shawl collar in double seed stitch.

Notions: Cable needle, 8 stitch markers, 5 stitch holders and yarn needle.

Gauge: 14 sts and 22 rows in st st measures 10 cm/4″ square. 14 sts and 22 rows in Double Seed st measures 10 cm/4″ square. Braid across 12 sts measures 5 cm/2″.

Notes: The body of the coat is knitted flat, while the sleeves are worked in the round. The a-line shaping is done in st st. Each cable has been gathered to keep its texture to the end. The shawl collar is picked up and shaped by short rows. If you want a wider shawl collar continue with short rows as set, until it measures 22 cm/8.75″ at the widest point. You can also make it lie flatter by adding 1 center stitch worked in stocking stitch (making sure the knit stitch is out when folded), and increasing on each side of it on every 4th row, see Britt Grandin’s, aka brittg, notes on Ravelry and her other modifications.

Scarftex Pattern Released

I am delighted to release one of my last series of design, the Scarftex in English in my Ravelry Store. The Norwegian pattern will be published together with 5 other designs, all brilliantly photographed by Kim Müller, gorgeously modeled by dancer Francesca Golfetto and perfectly styled by Line Sekkingstad, in Familiens Strikkebok out on 25th August. Here is my Scarftex introduction and details: To make cables really pop I love working them in double yarns. Usually I use two strands of the same yarn but this time I chose to hold a pure wool, Rowan Fine Tweed, together with an alpaca mixture, Rowan Lima, to add bounce to the cables. This is a chunky jewelry scarf just like the type of statement jewelry I prefer. The stitch pattern I choose is a combination of reversible cables, from Lily Chin, to make a scarf with a lot of texture; a Scarftex!

Size: One Size

Finished measurements: 21 cm/8.25″ wide 140 cm/55″ long

Yarn: Rowan, Lima (8% merino, 84% baby alpaca, 8% nylon, 50 g, 110 m/120 yds) in Lima sh 888: 5 balls; 530 m/580 yds. Rowan Rowan, Fine Tweed (100% ull, 25 g, 90 m/98 yds) in Bedale sh 361: 6 balls; 530 m/580 yds. Rowan Note: Both yarns are held together throughout. Or another dense Worsted/Aran (10 ply) yarn with or without a Fingering (4 ply) yarn.

Needles: 5.5 mm/US 9 straight needles. Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.

Notions: Cable needle, 2 stitch markers, yarn needle.

Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows in garter st measures 10 cm/4″ square.

Notes: The scarf and each cable is not as difficult to work as it looks since all stitches are worked as they appear either in garter stitch or 1 by 1 rib on all on rows even during crossings.

Nora Sweater Pattern Released

Thanks to my test knitters whom assisted in improving my Nora Sweater Pattern and to my vigilant technical editor Heather Zoppetti of Stitch Sprouts. The cover pictures are taken by photographer Kim Müller of dancer, Francesca Golfetto. The English pattern has been released in my Ravelry Store with helpful video links, a schematic and charts. Here is the essential pattern info: A mélange taupe in a delicate fingering weight yarn was chosen for this slightly fitted stylish cable sweater with a shawl collar. I chose a Missoni shaped puffed sleeve for a modern twist but you can chose a set in sleeve option if you prefer. A voluptuous small cable encased by side cables, reverse stocking stitch and double seed stitch was the beginning of this design.

Needles 3 mm/US 2.5 (80 cm/32″) circular needle, 3 mm/US 2.5 (100 cm/40″) circular needle and 3.5 mm/US 4 DPNs or needle to match gauge.

Notions: Cable needle, 2 stitch markers, yarn needle and scrap yarn for running yarn markers.

Gauge 28 sts and 38 rows in reverse stocking stitch measures 10 cm/4″ square. 26 sts and 38 rows in double seed pattern measures 10 cm/4″ square. 40 sts in cable panel on sleeve measures 12 cm/4.75″ wide.

Notes: Sleeves and body are worked in the round until armhole and then are worked back and forth. The large cable on front is changed to small cable with rev st st and dbl seed st before neck shaping. The small cable on the sleeves is the centre of the large cable on the body. The I-cord cast off tightens the collar, so if you prefer to it to lie flatter, bind off in pattern instead. Chose if you want to work a puff sleeve or a set-in sleeve.

Tyrol Jacket Pattern Released

I am delighted to release the English pdf pattern of my Tyrol Jacket in my Ravelry store after completed test knitting, see; tyrol-jacket. The Norwegian pattern is available in print on Monday in the separate magazine called “Familien Håndarbeid”/The Family Handicrafts. Inspired by the mélange soft pink color – not unlike the evening sky – and adorable Tyrol cables with their flower-bud shapes, I have designed an elegantly fitted jacket with a V-neck. The saddle sleeves allow the cables to flow all along the shoulder. A loose scarf with cables sewn into a tube works as a second shawl collar and adds textured volume. The Tyrol Jacket is knitted in the hand dyed Tosh dk using 4 mm/US 6 in two different dye lots, the darker version chosen for the sleeves, ordered from Eat.Sleep.Knit.
