Caravay Pattern Released

Caravay is another pattern I released earlier this spring after a successful test knitting. The oversized sweater was made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, knitted in Tinde. On the cover you can see it worn by the gorgeous Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair by Sissel Fylling and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by Eivind Røhne at Bøler Church in Oslo, last spring. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern is available from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, while the individual pattern is available in my Ravelry Store or on LoveCrafts.

Named after the herb, which seeds look like this all-over domed check pattern, is this oversized pullover. Caravay begins and ends in a broken rib. The crowing collar is worked double and folded down to the wrong side and attached. A ribbing detail in the side separate the pieces that are knitted in pieces and seamed. Wear it with or without a belt. Caravay is knitted in the stunning pelt wool yarn from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, called Tinde.

Needles: 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle (80 cm/32″)
3 mm/US 2.5 circular needle (40 cm/16″) for collar.
Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.

Notions: Stitch markers (removable), cable needle, stitch holders and yarn needle.

Gauge: 21 sts and 30 rows in st st using 3.5 mm/US 4 measures 10 cm/4″ square after blocking.
22 sts and 32 rows in Domed check pattern using 3.5 mm/US 4 measures 10 cm/4″ square after blocking.

Notes: The pullover is worked back and forth in pieces and seamed. The neck is deeper on the front, than on the back. When working in Domed Check pattern, if there are not enough stitches at the sides to work a complete cable crossing, work the stitches of the partial cables as they appear.

Photoshoot at Bøler Church May 2020: Bubala

I am so far behind in showing you photos from my previous photoshoot at Bøler Church back in May 2020. The next one I will show you is my design Bubala made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, worn by the gorgeous Olivia Lindtein, with hair & make-up by Sissel Fylling and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by Eivind Røhne. Bubala is knitted in the divine Sølje pelt wool yarn using a 3 mm/US 2.5 needle with a 24 stitches and 32 rows gauge in stockinette stitch per 10 cm/4″ square. The English pattern is available on Ravelry and the Norwegian will be added shortly. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern is available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

I choose to style Bubala with a pair of pencil pants, a Wolford tube top and boots by Monica Stålvang. The v-neck was originally made to be worn at the front, but I must admit that I love how wonderful it looked when Olivia wore it at the back. See the photo below.

Named Bubala Yiddish for close to one’s heart is this cabled pullover with bobbles. A deep v-neck that can be worn on the front or on the back, split the cable into two single cables. The same single cable adorn the sleeve. Ribbing frame the cables in the sides and make the sweater figure hugging. The v-neck ends in an I-cord bind-off. Bubala is knitted in the bouncy Sølje pelt wool from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The pullover is worked back and forth in separate pieces and seamed. The bobble is made using a crochet hook with an extra fastening trick, see the video link in the pattern.

I have graded the pattern from sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 85 to 153 cm/33.5 to 60″. The intended ease is + 5-7 cm/2-2.75”, while the sample shown is 92 cm/36.25” and worn with + 9 cm/3.5” ease on Olivia.

Yaelle Pattern Released

I am so thrilled to release my Yaelle pattern in both English and Norwegian after a successful test knit. Yaelle is made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk and knitted in the divine Tinde pelt wool yarn, using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle, in the Cognac shade. The cover shows model Olivia Lindtein wearing size S, with make-up & hair by Sissel Fylling and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, brilliantly photographed by Eivind Røhne at Bøler Church back in May. Yaelle is available in my Ravelry store in sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 128 to 192 cm/50.5 to 75.5″. On the pattern page you can see some of my test knitters’ fantastic results. Yaelle is also available as a yarn kit with either English or Norwegian pattern directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Yaelle is a high-low pullover with an all over check pattern, swinging side panels and pockets. Named after Hebrew for the mountain goat, as it can take you everywhere. The pullover ends in a high loose turtle neck collar. Yaelle’s side panels are picked up and knitted after the side seams are done. The pockets are knitted at the same time as the front, including the pocket band and the lining. Wear Yaelle as you like; hanging loose or gathered with a belt or with a shawl pin at the front. The pullover is knitted in the pelt wool yarn Tinde with lustre from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

New Design: Yaelle

Next out in the series of new designs is one of the four new garments made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Yaelle is beautifully knitted by Grete Jenssen, aka ma9 on Ravelry, in Tinde pelt wool in Cognac using 3.5 mm/US 4 needles. Yaelle is a high-low pullover with an all over check pattern, swinging side panels and pockets. The two vertical side pockets are worked at the same time as the front with extra stitches for the pocket band, with the lining attached horizontally at the top and bottom of the pocket.

All these photos are taken by Michael at the beach in Ørje of me wearing size S with a 136 cm/53.5″ bust circumference. I have graded the pattern from size XS to 5XL with bust circumference from 128 to 192 cm/50.5 to 75.5″.

Here you see me inserting the shawl pin after I have folded the front into something that feels like origami. The oversized pullover is knitted with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm/US 4 measures 10 cm/4“ square after blocking. 

Here is how Yaelle looks with a belt. On the back you can either divide the folds created by the belt evenly or place them all in the side.

Finally, here I am talking about the pocket lining, the small rectangle you can see from the wrong side in reverse stockinette stitch.

Yaelle looked absolutely stunning on Olivia Lindtein, captured by Eivind Røhne and I look forward to showing you those photos.

Jendine Pattern Released

The test knit of Jendine is over and the English pattern has been released in my Ravelry store. My brilliant test knitters corrected and improved the pattern in addition to making some wonderful version of the pullover! Above you see it worn by the gorgeous Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair styling by Erica Poppe and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, photographed by Eivind Røhne in Mortensrud Church back in November last year.  Yarn kits with either English or Norwegian pattern are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Jendine is an a-line pullover with a panel of elegant cable ribbing at the center, longer rounded hem at the back and a shorter front. The v-neck splits the cable panel into two parts each framed with an I-cord. Jendine is an old historic Norwegian name that fitted this flowing pullover, that can be worn together with the Rebine skirt. Jendine is worked in the beautiful Tinde pelt wool by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Epona Knitted by Siret

I wanted to share these brilliant photos that Siret – aka kollane on Ravelry and siretsini on Instagram – took of her beautiful daughter Annika wearing Epona, which she test knitted for me back in October last year. Siret knitted the cabled pullover in size Medium in Tinde pelt wool from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk and writes on her Ravelry project page: “Unlike the sample, I use Tinde yarn, which is a thicker yarn than Sølje. Lys Rødlig Beige is the name of my Tinde tone – It is not gray or quite beige, but has a pinkish undertone.”

Siret’s collar is 5 cm instead of 9 cm as specified in pattern and writes: “I knit the inside of the collar with a softer yarn to prevent Tinde yarn from tickling the neck – Chester Wool Company Tibetan 4ply with merino, silk and Yak.”

Here is my introduction to the Epona pattern: Graceful cables run along the center of this pullover with a high rib, creating a narrower waist. A sweater perfect for riding or worn together with a skirt, it is crowned by a high collar with interfacing to make it stand up. Epona is Celtic for the Goddess of horses and knitted in Sølje Pelsull from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in a deep bottlegreen shade.

Siret writes on her project page: “The Epona is a beautiful pullover with a high standing neckline and slightly different cables in the center panel.  The high rib makes the waist narrower and feminine. The center panel cable is unique and not difficult to knit at all.”

Siret and Annika had their photoshoot at the Üügu-bluff on the island Muhu, next to the island Saaremaa, where they live, in Estonia. Thank you so much for fantastic test knitting and photography, Siret!

Photoshoot at Mortensrud Church: Rebine

The skirt Rebine, designed for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, is out next in my series from the photoshoot at Mortensrud Church . The pencil skirt was made to as part of the set to be worn together with Jendine, both are knitted in Tinde pelt wool yarn, but it can easily be worn on its own. The gorgeous model Olivia Lindtein certainly convinced me of that. Here she is, with hair & make-up by Erica Poppe and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, wearing size Small as a party outfit with boots from Monica Stålvang, brilliantly captured by Eivind Røhne.

Rebine, an old Norwegian name, is a pencil skirt with an all over elegant cable pattern ending in a high waist. The skirt is shaped for the hip and the waist. Belt loops, inserted in each side seam, hold the skirt in place. Rebine is knitted in Tinde pelt wool by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

The yarn Tinde pelsull is made of 100% pelt wool with 260 meters/284 yards on each 100 gram skein. The sample is knitted in Lys Marine 2125 with a gauge of 21 sts and 30 rows in st st, after blocking measures 10 cm/4” square using 3.5 mm/US 4 needle.

Above you see Rebine worn with the pullover Jendine. I have graded the Rebine pattern from sizes XS to 3XL with hip circumference of 86 to 132 cm/33.75 to 52)” and a waist circumference of  76 to 110 cm/30 to 43.25“. The skirt is worn with + 11 cm/4.25” ease on model who stands 167 cm/5’6” tall, while the intended ease is – 4 cm/1.5” to + 6 cm/2.25”. Olivia is ideally a size XS and not a size S.

The skirt is worked in pieces from the bottom and up. Make two belt straps to insert in the side seam. If you want to adjust the length of the skirt, remove up to 8 cm/3.25” or add an extra length before shaping the hip.

The English and Norwegian Rebine and Jendine pattern will be released after test knitting. Jendine begins 16th of March, while Rebine begins 6th of April in my Ravelry group. Yarn kits will soon be available from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

This time it is the pullover Jendine, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Olivia is wearing size S with a 90 cm/35.5″ bust circumference worn with + 7 cm/2.75″ ease.

The Tinde Pelsull by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk is made of 100% pelt wool with 260 meters/284 yards on each 100 gram skein. The sample, skilfully knitted by Kristin Nygård – aka Quiltefeen – is in the shade “Lys marine”/Light Navy 2125 with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm/US 4 measuring 10 cm/4” square. The pullover is worked in parts with garter stitch framing and seamed.

Here is a close up of the front, where you can see Kaja’s stunning jewellery too! I have graded the pattern in sizes XS to 3XL with a bust circumference of 84 cm to 136 cm/33 to 53.5″. Below is Jendine worn over the matching skirt Rebine.

A separate blog post is coming with more photos of the skirt and the set. The English and Norwegian Jendine pattern will be released after test knitting, which begins 16th of March in my Ravelry group. Yarn kits will soon be available from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

New Design: Edia

The last new design for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk is an oversized pullover called Edia with the same cable as I chose for the Gyro dress. I was uncertain which colour of pink or burgundy purple in Tinde pelt wool to choose for the cable on the dress, so I thought I could make a sweater with the cable in the second colour; “Burgunderlilla 2131”. The sample was beautifully knitted by Airin Hansen, aka Teodor on Ravelry, for me to sew (read: crochet with slip stitch) together and make the collar. Airin knitted Edia using a 3.5 mm/US 4 and a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch.

Edia is an oversized sweater with a central cable panel, vent in the sides and a crew neck crowned by an I-cord bind off. The pullover has dropped shoulders and simple cables on the sleeves. Edia is an old Norwegian female name fitting for this relaxed sweater knitted in the gorgeous pelt wool yarn Tinde from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The sweater is worked back and forth in pieces and seamed. The neck is deeper on the front, than on the back.

I have graded the pattern from size XS to 3XL with measurements from 136 cm to 184 cm/53.5 to 72.5″. In these photos taken by my husband in Barcelona, you see me wearing size Small with a bust circumference of 144 cm/56.75″.

Above you can see the cable detail. The English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group beginning on the 18th of May, before the pattern is released. I have one more new design to show you, before you will see how these designs looked on my model Olivia Lindtein.

New Design: Jendine

Next out in the series of new designs for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk is the Jendine pullover. It was made to go together with the Rebine skirt as a set, but works equally well with trousers. I chose a narrow cable that looks like a more advanced rib to adorn the center and wanted a high low effect for the pullover. Jendine and Rebine are both knitted in Tinde pelt wool, using a 3.5 mm/US 4 and a 3 mm/US 2.5 for the sleeve band by my skilled sample knitter Kristin Nygård, aka quiltefeen! Michael took these photos of me, wearing size S with a 90 cm/35.5″ bust, in Barcelona, when I was teaching at Barcelona Knits 2019 back in November last year.

I have graded Jendine and Rebine (I will make a separate post with more photos of the skirt, especially the top of it) in sizes XS to 3XL with finished bust measurements of 84 to 136 cm/33 to 53.5″.

The test knit of Jendine begins on the 16th of March and it is followed by a test knit for Rebine on the 6th of April, both in my Ravelry group. I look forward to showing you how this set looked on my model Olivia Lindtein!
