Photoshoot at Sentralen: Ceol

The next set of photos I will share are of the Ceol pullover made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The idea of having Model Olivia Lindtein wearing a tulle skirt sitting down on the floor came to me after seeing that the Danish designer Bitte Kai Rand had a cover photo of just that. She showed a suit jacket but I loved the image so much that I wanted to make my own version of it. Photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai together with Stylist Nina Hjertaas Bull and model Olivia helped me re-create it at Sentralen in Oslo last December. Olivia had to try out a number of positions before Wenche was satisfied. Above is one of the first ones, where she is holding onto a small ball of the yarn. Continue reading

Nipa Pattern Released

The test knit of Nipa has come to an end and I have released the pattern in English on Ravelry. The Norwegian one will be added shortly. My test knitters did a brilliant job correcting and improving the pattern. You can see a number of their results on the Ravelry pattern page. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Here are some of the photos that Eivind Røhne took of the gorgeous model Aksa Mortensen wearing the Nipa sweater, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, with make-up & hair styling by Nina Hjertaas Bull, Evalina Olive ankle boots by Monica Stålvang and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, at Hvalstrand Bad, back in May last year. Photoshoot at Sentralen: Jari

The next set of photos from the photoshoot is the Jari design made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai suggested we start with Model Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair styling by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, sitting on the back of the sofa in the marble Hallway at Sentralen in Oslo. I like the cool look even though it does not show a lot of the sweater. So I suggested we move the sofa out of the photo. After I had checked whether it would work with the back of it showing, but the back of the sofa had a much plainer fabric hence it would not work. Continue reading

New Design: Ceol

The next new design I am going to show you is the pullover Ceol made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. I selected the beautiful melange turquoise colour before I found the Celtic cables in one of my Barbara Walker stitch dictionaries. I decided to mirror the cable and let smaller cables play alongside them. Named Ceol, Irish for music, is this straight pullover with Celtic cables that vibrates out into smaller cables and then flattens into stockinette stitch like rhythm. The sweater ends in a crew neck that is crowned with an I-cord. Unlike the body the sleeves only have two small cables at the center. Ceol is knitted in pieces in the airy Norwegian combed wool yarn Ask from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Continue reading

Adeline’s Cardigan Pattern Released

Adeline’s Cardigan was made for the Interweave Knits Winter 2020 issue.  The cover design has been returned to me together with the rights to the pattern, so I have released the pattern in English and Norwegian on Ravelry. On the cover you can see model Olivia Lindtein wearing Adeline’s Cardigan with make-up & hair by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, all captured by photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai back in December at Sentralen in Oslo. Free Falling Pullover Knitted by Dominik

I just had to share this stunning version of the Free Falling Pullover knitted by Dominik from Vienna, Austria. She chose to make the second size with a 87.5 cm/34.5″ bust circumference in the original yarn Sugar Bush Yarns, Crisp using a 4 mm/US 6 needle, with a row gauge off the given 28 rows. This is the first sweater Dominik made in 2022 and reveals that she plans to make another 11 by the end of the year. On instagram, where she is vielleblanc, she writes: “When it comes to knitting, I’m pretty darned fearless. Bring it on!!” Continue reading

Photoshoot at Sentralen: Adeline’s Cardigan

I am proud to present the first set of photos taken by Wenche Hoel-Knai at our photoshoot back in December at Sentralen in Oslo. Adeline’s Cardigan was made for Interweave Knits and featured on the cover of their Winter 2021 issue in November 2020. The pattern rights reverted to me in November but the garment had to be photographed again. Here are the stunning results from the shoot with Model Olivia Lindtein wearing Adeline’s Cardigan with make-up & hair by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, all captured by photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai. We decided to use the Golden Bar – with no drinks available, only seating – with the monumental sculpture; “Growing Gold” made in textiles by Hanne Friis, on the wall. Continue reading

New Design: Oráiste

Here is my design Oráiste made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in their Ask combed wool yarn. My idea was to make a seamless dress with cables in the sides that follow the raglan decreases on the top. I chose a melange orange colour for the dress and asked sample knitter Grete Jenssen, aka ma9 on Ravelry, to make it for me using a 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square. In the end, I decided to make a crew neckline and to knit a cowl that could also be used as a belt. The pattern is graded into sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 99 to 175 cm/39 to 69″. I am wearing size S with 18 cm/7″ positive ease in these photos that Michael took in our front garden in December, while we still had plenty of snow. Yarn kits with an English or Norwegian pattern will soon be available from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, while the individual pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group starting 16th of May before release. Keila Pattern Released

I have been waiting for the release of the Keila dress that I made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, so I am thrilled to tell you that the test knit is coming to an end. My brilliant test knitters corrected and improved the pattern. You can see a couple of the finished versions on the pattern page on Ravelry and below are photos of the different ways you can wear it. Here are some of the photos that Eivind Røhne took of the gorgeous model Aksa Mortensen wearing the Keila dress, made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, with make-up & hair styling by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, at Hvalstrand Bad, back in May. The English pattern is available on Ravelry and the Norwegian one will be added shortly. You can also order a yarn kit directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk with either an English or a Norwegian pattern. Continue reading

New Design: Jari

Inspired by an oversized pullover with a large cable panel and a bottom tuck is my new design Jari. I have used a bottom tuck earlier, but this time I combined it with both Double seed stitch band beneath it and a reverse stockinette stitch band above it. The result is Jari where I discovered a perfect cable panel in one of Barbara Walker’s stitch dictionaries, above the tuck with stockinette stitch in the sides as well as on the sleeves. On the back I decided to make only two central cables. The yarn I decided to use for this project is the Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Ask – a combed wool yarn in the lovely shade called Melange Clear Apple Green. Continue reading
