Photoshoot at Ingierstrand Bad: Sulli

I am thrilled to show you the professional photos of Sulli worn by the gorgeous Alexandria Eissinger/Nordic Model Agency with hair & makeup by Jens J. Wiker and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, brilliantly captured by Eivind Røhne at Ingierstrand Bad in late May. Yes, Alex did swing that loop and added a dance for us to see, as I am sure you can imagine. I am not sure Eivind got that on film, but I am sure he will let me know if he does. Eivind did film a few other sequences you can see on Instagram. Sulli is part of the collection I have made in collaboration with Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The Norwegian yarn kits will be launched at Oslo Design Fair at Lillestrøm 30. August to 2. September.

Suli is Eskimo for more, ideal for this cardigan with a loop collar that you can drape as you please, adorned with a lace pattern on center back, sleeve and collar. The loop collar can be worn loose, folded once behind the neck or twice in front or three times around the neck in a ballerina style. A fake garter stitch seam adds a bit of structure to this cardigan knitted in the beautiful Sølje pelt wool yarn.

I chose to style it with a pair of black pencil pants, a tube top and sculptural shoes by Camilla Skovgaard, to fit the rest of the Hillesvåg Collection. Alex managed well in the heat and Eivind kept the bikini-clad women, sunbathing nearby, out of the photos, I am pleased to say. It was also an easier than usual day for Michael who did not have to hold the reflector and have his shadow shown in the photos since Eivind had brought a huge reflector and weights to keep it steady.

Above you see the loop worn three times around the neck and how it pulls in the jacket. For a more casual style wear it with the loop once around the neck as in the second photo or crossed in front as in the third photo. The wonderful pelt yarn is firm enough to hold the layers of the loop collar together making it into a shawl like collar as in the second photo. You can play around with the loop and even pull it around your waist if you wanted to.

The cardigan was beautifully knitted by Airin Hansen, aka Teodor on Ravelry, using a 3 mm/US 2.5 needle and a gauge 24 stitches and 32 rows. Sølje comes in 30 beautiful colours, all with the natural blackness from the Norwegian Pelssau/Pelt Sheep wool. 3 of those are turquoise, this one is the light turquoise shade. The body is knitted in one piece to the armholes, then divided into 3 parts. The loop collar is knitted separately in two pieces, bound off on 3 needles and sewed on from the back neck, while the cast on edges are joined by mattress stitches. The sleeves are knitted in the round and set-in. The armhole is slightly larger on the fronts than the back in sizes L (XL and 2XL). If you choose to adjust the body length, remember to adjust the length of each part of the loop with the same removed/added length.

Here is the back with the dewdrop pattern covering most of it. You can also clearly see the fake seam stitches in garter stitch. The jacket is available in sizes XS to 2XL with a bust circumference of 86 to 126 cm/33.75 to 49.5″. Alex is wearing size S with 8 cm/3.25″ positive ease. So am I in the photos taken by Michael here: New Design Sulli.

Capturing the colour, stitch detail, and jewellery in one photo, this is it. The jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design matches the stitch pattern: Abelia earring, Stijl ring and the large Ivy ring. The last ring was given to me by Kaja and is now on my finger, celebrating our collaboration! Thank you to my brilliant team!

The Norwegian pattern will only be available in the yarn kits to be launched in early September. While the English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group, it is scheduled to start in beginning of January and will be released approximately 6 weeks later. Do join us. In the meantime I will show you more of the professional photos taken in May, you can take part in the test knit of Embrae beginning next week on Ravelry and keep enjoying your summer!

Photoshoot at Ingierstrand Bad: Iglu

Here are the professional photos taken by Eivind Røhne of gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger, with hair & make up by Jens J. Wiker and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, wearing Iglu, at Ingierstrand Bad, late in May. Iglu is part of the collection I have made in collaboration with Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The Norwegian yarn kits will be launched at Oslo Design Fair at Lillestrøm 30. August to 2. September. Iglu is a lightweight poncho to live in, hence the Inuit name Iglu, with a Celtic cable on center front and back. The poncho has sleeve parts in rib and a collar in garter stitch ending in a I-cord. It is beautifully knitted with shaped shoulders in the bouncy and lustrous Sølje Pelsull.

The Poncho is beautifully knitted by Airin Hansen, aka Teodor on Ravelry, using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle with a gauge of 21 stitches and 30 rows measuring 10 cm/4″ square. I was pleasantly surprised how well this fine pelt wool look knitted on a larger needle than the suggested 3 mm/US 2.5. The one size poncho with a bust circumference of 194 cm/76.5″ only requires 5 100 gram skeins with 350 meters/383 yards or approximately 1712 meters/1872 yards.

The poncho is knitted in two parts, back and forth for the body, while the sleeves are knitted in the round in rib. The sleeves are sewn on at the end and hold the poncho together in the sides. There is a garter stitch band on each side of the body as you can see in the photo below. The shoulders are shaped with short row shaping, and the neck shaping is lower on the front than on the back.

The wide poncho would look its best with narrow black pencil pants, I decided and chose to identically style all the 4 designs for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Alex is also wearing the same Camilla Skovgaard sculptural shoes, but they are not visible in any of these photos.

The English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group, it is scheduled to start 6th of November and will be released approximately 6 weeks later. Do join us. In the meantime you can look forward to seeing more garments worn by gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger as well as 2 designs made for The Fibre Company. Stay tuned, enjoy the summer and keep knitting!

Photoshoot at Ingierstrand Bad: Aki

I am thrilled to show you the professional photos taken by Eivind Røhne of gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger, with hair & make up by Jens J. Wiker and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, wearing Aki, at Ingierstrand Bad, late in May. Aki, is part of the collection I have made in collaboration with Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The Norwegian yarn kits will be launched at Oslo Design Fair at Lillestrøm 30. August to 2. September. Round cables, reminiscent of antic coins hence the name Aki; Eskimo for value, adorn this a-line pullover with vents at the bottom. The pullover is crowned with a double collar with cables and garter stitches. The body is worked in two parts, while the sleeves are knitted in the round, all parts with garter stitch in the sides. Aki is knitted in a soft heather pink in the luscious Sølje from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk.

Sølje is a pelt yarn that comes in 100 gram skeins with 350 meters/383 yards and has a gauge of 24 stitches and 32 rows using a 3 mm/US 2.5 needle to 10 cm/4″ square. I am wearing size Small but it will be available in sizes XS to 2XL with a bust circumference of 84 to 126 cm/33 to 49.5″. The front and back are worked back and forth, while the sleeves are worked in the round. The rib on the body is not seamed at the bottom to create vents. The double collar is picked up and knitted in the round, allowing the cables to continue. The interfacing part of the collar is knitted in stockinette stitch.

I have been fantasising of using a diving tower in a series of photos, but for the second time around it did not work out. This time it was closed off for maintenance work, while the weather ruined it the first time around several years back at Hvalstrand Bad. Instead Eivind suggested we include it in the background with the view towards Oslo. I choose to style Aki with pencil pants and high sculptural shoes by Danish designer Camilla Skovgaard.

Yes, I do tend to choose a number of photos where Alex is looking dreamingly down. Their sensuality draw me in and make me focus on the pullover, at least I imagine it does. I also try to select photos with different arm positions to reveal more of the garment. The English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group, it is scheduled to start 2nd of October and will be released approximately 6 weeks later. Do join us. In the meantime you can look forward to seeing more designs worn by gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger as well as 2 designs made for The Fibre Company. New Design: Sulli

The final of the 4 designs for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk is a cardigan with a loop collar, after a suggestion from Anette Toft that fulfilled my aim of making different garment types. The Norwegian yarn kits will be launched at Oslo Design Fair at Lillestrøm 30. August to 2. September. For this I choose a simple lace pattern on the back, sleeves and loop. The lovely Sølje pelt wool yarn makes you able to drape the collar even further and make it into a thick shawl like collar too. The cardigan was beautifully knitted by Airin Hansen, aka Teodor on Ravelry, using a 3 mm/US 2.5 needle and a gauge 24 stitches and 32 rows.

Suli is Eskimo for more, ideal for this cardigan with a loop collar that you can drape as you please, adorned with a lace pattern on center back, sleeve and collar. The loop collar can be worn loose, folded once behind the neck or twice in front or three times around the neck in a ballerina style. A fake garter stitch seam adds a bit of structure to this cardigan knitted in the beautiful Sølje pelt wool yarn.Sølje comes in 30 beautiful colours, all with the natural blackness from the Norwegian Pelssau/Pelt Sheep wool. 3 of those are turquoise, and this time I choose the light turquoise shade. It is a difficult colour to capture, and so is the luster with its mohair like surface. In these photos all taken by my husband in our garden on a very wet day in late May you only see a few of the options on how to wear the collar. Below you can see the full length of the collar.

The Norwegian pattern will only be available in the yarn kits to be launched in early September. While the English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group, it is scheduled to start in beginning of January and will be released approximately 6 weeks later. Do join us. In the meantime you can look forward to seeing this worn by gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger as well as my two designs made for The Fibre Company. Stay tuned, enjoy the summer and keep knitting!

Hillesvåg Stand at Oslo Design Fair

_dsc1858-1920x1200_72Yes, I know it was back in the beginning of September, but I am trying to catch up with all the knitting related events that has happened during the last two months so far. Oslo Design Fair, opened Thursday 1. September and closed on Sunday 4. September, while I was at Strik Bornholm. The yarn producer Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk had a stand and launched the yarn kits for 4 of my designs see Hillesvåg Eksklusiv: Andor, Idunn, Halli and Elfa. All the designs are made in the wonderful Norwegian pelt wool/Pelsull, the last two are made in the new finer Hifa Sølje, while the first two are made in the re-named Hifa Tinde yarn. The lustrous yarn has a mohair feel and a melange colour due to its natural greyish base. The new yarn Hifa Sølje with 350 meters/383 yards on each 100 g skein is to die for, so do try it when it is ready in all the 30 divine colours. Closest in the photo above is Halli. Designer Tove Fevang and her husband photographer Geir Arnesen went to the fair, and Geir took these brilliant photos, as you might have guessed! Thank you!

_dsc1854-1920x1200_72Here are three displayed on mannequins and one hanging, with the yarn kits and the brochure made for retailers below: Halli, Andor, Idunn and Elfa. Here is my introduction to Halli: A sideways cardigan with a reverse textural pattern, and deep waterfall fronts. Each front and sleeve has two tucks at the end; one in reverse stockinette stitch and one in stockinette stitch. Choose if you prefer to leave the fronts hanging loose, pinned loosely together or draped across each other. Halli, comes from Old Norse and means rock. Perfect for the stitch pattern and symbolicly for becoming the rock in your wardrobe.

_dsc1873-1920x1200_72Above is Anette Toft from Hillesvåg, who used her time well, knitting. Here is the introduction to the most popular of the four designs the poncho Andor: A trendy oversized poncho defined by its pairs of ornamental cables on each wide shoulder part. The stockinette center part is crowned by a high neck collar. The poncho has sidebands that can be closed with buttons. It is knitted flat in two parts with shoulder and neck shaping. Andor is the Norse element for Eagle and its wingspan appropriate for this poncho.

_dsc1866-1920x1200_72

Idunn is the pullover knitted in Hifa Tinde in Petrol. Named after the Norse goddess of spring and immortality is this straight sweater with a Henley neck with center cables. Ribs frame the cables in each side and make the sweater figure hugging. One center cable adds texture to the sleeve. The sweater is worked in the round to the underarm in the lustrous pelt yarn with a mohair feel, Tinde from Hifa.

Last is Elfa: Elfa is an a-line long jacket with central cables along all parts. Tucks divide the different patterns giving a slight flair and a softer touch to the jacket. A large shawl collar crowns the garment, hence the given name Elfa – after the Norse king and warrior. The body is worked in pieces while the sleeves are worked in the round to the underarm. It is knitted in the in the lustrous pelt yarn with a mohair feel, Sølje from Hifa.

They also launched eleven kits by London based designer Michelle Lowe-Holder. Michelle makes sensational designs that experiment with the mixture of vintage, antique and recycled materials. See the two photos at the back in the photo above. Here are more details: Hillesvag Eksklusiv Gjestedesign/Michelle Lowe Holder.

I am delighted that a number of knitters and shop owners have ordered the kits, and I look forward to hearing as well as seeing the results!

Photoshoot at Villa Malla: Elfa

20160601 LM Villa Malla 689I am pleased to present the magnificent professional photos of the third design for yarn kits for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Elfa is an a-line long jacket with central cables along all parts. Gorgeous Alexandria Eissinger – with hair and make up by Jens J. Wiker, jewelry by Kaja Gjedebo Design and boots by Monica Stålvang Shoes – shows it off so elegantly at the upper terrace of Villa Malla by the Oslo fjord brilliantly captured by Eivind Røhne. It was a sweltering day that made the fjord look more like the Mediterranean Sea. The yarn kits with the Norwegian pattern will be launched at Oslo Design Fair from 1. to 4. September. The English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group in April next year before its release.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 720Elfa is knitted using 3 mm/US 4 needles with a gauge of 24 stitches and 34 rows in stocking stitch measures 10 cm/4″ square. The body is worked flat in pieces, unlike the long sleeves which are worked in the round to the armhole. The hem and the tuck are worked with 2 sets of circular needles held together. To make the bottom band and tuck to flare less choose needle size 2.5 mm/US 1.5. The number of stitches picked up for collar has been adjusted from the sample to avoid the flare.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 711The bottom band on all parts begins with a provisional cast on, which will be pulled out and replaced by an I-cord bind off at the end. The collar also ends in an I-cord bind off. The cables are the same ones chosen for the Idunn pullover. Framed by stocking stitch in the sides and divided by a tuck to the garter stitch collar and bottom band, instead of a rib, the jacket has a more feminine look to it.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 715Alexandria is wearing size S and is a clothes size European 34/UK 6/US 2. Elfa is graded from size XS to 2XL with a bust circumference of  84 to 126 cm/41 to 49.75″. The yarn kits will be available from selected yarn stores and online here: Eksklusiv Gjestedesign. The last design for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in this collection is the most popular of them all the Andor Poncho.

Photoshoot at Villa Malla: Halli

20160601 LM Villa Malla 751Next series of photos I am thrilled to show you are the designs I have made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk for their yarn kits. First out is Halli, which light color light jeans blue suits gorgeous model Alexandria Eissinger so well! Her beautiful hair & make up is by Jens J. Wiker, the statement jewelry is by Kaja Gjedebo Design and the boots by Monica Stålvang Shoes, all brilliantly captured by Eivind Røhne at Villa Malla by the Oslo fjord in June. Here is my introduction to the pattern: A sideways cardigan with a reverse textural pattern, and deep waterfall fronts. The sample is knitted in the new finer pelt wool yarn with a radiance called Hifa Sølje with 350 meters/382 yards on each 100 gram skein. The Norwegian pattern will only be available in the yarn kit, while the English pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group in February before it will be released. The yarn kits will be launched at the Oslo Design Fair from 1. to 4. September.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 786Halli is knitted using 3 mm/US 2.5 circular needle with a gauge of 24 stitches and 32 rows in stockinette stitch measures 10 cm/4″ square. The body is knitted sideways in one piece, from right front to first armhole, where it is split and worked in two parts until armhole is complete, and back is worked to second armhole, and finally left front. Right front begins with a provisional cast-on, which is later removed and replaced by an I-cord bind-off, while left front ends in an I-cord bind-off. The sleeve is knitted in the round to the armhole, then flat to final bind off. The fronts and the sleeves have two tucks; one in reverse stocking stitch and one in stocking stitch after each other at the beginning. The tucks are worked with 2 sets of circular needles held together, and with the magic loop method on the sleeves.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 784The cardigan is intended to be worn with extra ease at the front to create the waterfall effect. If you want less fabric to drape at the front, work a shorter front before the armhole on right front and after armhole on left front. If you prefer a shorter length on the body choose a smaller size when casting on, but work to the lengths given and the armhole for your correct size. Alexandria is wearing size S and is a clothes size European 34/UK 6/US 2.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 775Again; a light color that worked so well with the backdrop, in addition to looking stunning on Alexandria that is, so I had a hard time choosing photos as you can see! These photos were photographed at the upper terrace at Villa Malla, next to the large curving staircase leading to the lower terrace.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 771I chose to style these four designs for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk with slim black trousers and a tube top, to let the textures of the knits show. The lustrous pelt wool has a grey base tone which gives an extra dimension to the colors. This new thickness of the pelt wool and Norsk Pelsull which will change name to Tinde will be available in 30 colors from September. I am trying to be patient will I wait for the new shade cards to appear in my mail box.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 797The fronts are long because I wanted to be able to let them drape across the front in a casual manner. I realized this might not be suitable for all knitters hence I added the size & ease note above.

20160601 LM Villa Malla 798Last photo selected is this side view with the front draped across. The yarn kit will be available to order from selected yarn stores and online from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk here: Eksklusiv Gjestedesign. Next design coming up is the professionally photographed pullover Idunn.

New Design: Elfa

MMP-2040 2Elfa is the last of my new designs and the fourth garment made for yarn kits for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The cables are the same one I used for Idunn, and I loved the idea of making a different but also a more feminine version this time. I decided upon an a-line long jacket as a contrast to the straight pullover. The yarn producer liked my idea, I am pleased to say. It was another project that skilled sample knitter Grete Jenssen, aka ma9, knitted with her usual turbo speed. All four designs with their yarn kits will be launched at Oslo Design Fair at the beginning of September.

MMP-2052 2Here is my presentation of it: Elfa is an a-line long jacket with central cables along all parts.

MMP-2097 2Elfa is knitted using 3 mm/US 2.5 needles with a gauge of 24 stitches and 34 rows in stocking stitch measures 10 cm/4″ square. I have graded the jacket from size XS to 2XL, with a bust circumference from 84 to 126 cm/33 to 49.5″, and I am wearing size S above. Elfa was photographed by my husband at Ormøya a couple of weeks ago and by Eivind Røhne at Villa Malla on the 1. of June. Coming up are all the amazing professional photos and the garments worn by model Alexandria Eissinger/Nordic Model Agency.
