Oráiste Pattern Released

I have been looking forward to releasing the pattern to the dress and cowl/belt Oráiste made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in Ask. The test knit has come to an end and you can see some of the gorgeous versions made on the pattern page on Ravelry. My test knitters did a brilliant job correcting and improving the pattern. The English pattern is available to download in my Ravelry Store and the Norwegian pattern will be added shortly. Yarn kits are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. In these photos you see it worn by the gorgeous Olivia Lindtein, with hair and make-up by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, photographed by Wenche Hoel-Knai at Sentralen during our shoot back in December last year. Jari Pattern Released

I am thrilled to release the Jari pattern made in Ask for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The test knit has come to an end with some stunning results and a corrected pattern. Jari was worn by beautiful model Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair styling by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai at our photoshoot at Sentralen in Oslo back in December. Yarn kits with either an English or a Norwegian pattern are available directly from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, while the single pattern is on sale in English on Ravelry. The updated Norwegian pattern will be added shortly and both languages will also be available on LoveCrafts. Continue reading

Photoshoot at Sentralen: Hodd

Hodd  is made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk and here you see how stunning it looked on model Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai at Sentralen in Oslo last December. I decided to style the a-line Hodd with my pleated culottes and a black blouse on Olivia with boots by Monica Stålvang. Wenche suggested a different background from the one we used for Ceol – the turquoise pullover – and asked Olivia to walk further down the staircase. Continue reading

Photoshoot at Sentralen: Oráiste

Here is how the dress Oráiste looked on Model Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, captured by photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai at Sentralen in Oslo last December. Named Oraisté, Irish for orange, is this seamless oversized straight dress with two cables in the side that are moved out of the armhole and continue to run along the raglan decreases to the neckline. Both the body and the stockinette sleeves are worked in the round with a hem at the bottom. Oraisté ends in an I-cord crew neckline but can be dressed up with the double cowl that can also be worn as a belt around your hips. The dress and cowl are knitted in the airy Norwegian combed wool yarn Ask from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Continue reading

New Design: Hodd

The next new design I will show you is a long A-line vest made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk  in Ask. I enjoyed knitting the cable on the Oráiste dress and wanted to use it once more this time for a closed sleeveless pullover. The colour I chose for it is a dark terracotta 6503. My brilliant sample knitter & patron Airin Hansen knitted this sample for me in size S with a bust measurement of 90 cm/35.5″ using a 3.5 mm/US 4 needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square. In these photos taken by my husband in our front garden in Ørje back in November, I am wearing it with 2 cm/0.75″ positive ease. Continue reading

Photoshoot at Sentralen: Ceol

The next set of photos I will share are of the Ceol pullover made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. The idea of having Model Olivia Lindtein wearing a tulle skirt sitting down on the floor came to me after seeing that the Danish designer Bitte Kai Rand had a cover photo of just that. She showed a suit jacket but I loved the image so much that I wanted to make my own version of it. Photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai together with Stylist Nina Hjertaas Bull and model Olivia helped me re-create it at Sentralen in Oslo last December. Olivia had to try out a number of positions before Wenche was satisfied. Above is one of the first ones, where she is holding onto a small ball of the yarn. Continue reading

Photoshoot at Sentralen: Jari

The next set of photos from the photoshoot is the Jari design made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Photographer Wenche Hoel-Knai suggested we start with Model Olivia Lindtein, with make-up & hair styling by Nina Hjertaas Bull and jewellery by Kaja Gjedebo Design, sitting on the back of the sofa in the marble Hallway at Sentralen in Oslo. I like the cool look even though it does not show a lot of the sweater. So I suggested we move the sofa out of the photo. After I had checked whether it would work with the back of it showing, but the back of the sofa had a much plainer fabric hence it would not work. Continue reading

New Design: Ceol

The next new design I am going to show you is the pullover Ceol made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. I selected the beautiful melange turquoise colour before I found the Celtic cables in one of my Barbara Walker stitch dictionaries. I decided to mirror the cable and let smaller cables play alongside them. Named Ceol, Irish for music, is this straight pullover with Celtic cables that vibrates out into smaller cables and then flattens into stockinette stitch like rhythm. The sweater ends in a crew neck that is crowned with an I-cord. Unlike the body the sleeves only have two small cables at the center. Ceol is knitted in pieces in the airy Norwegian combed wool yarn Ask from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Continue reading

New Design: Oráiste

Here is my design Oráiste made for Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk in their Ask combed wool yarn. My idea was to make a seamless dress with cables in the sides that follow the raglan decreases on the top. I chose a melange orange colour for the dress and asked sample knitter Grete Jenssen, aka ma9 on Ravelry, to make it for me using a 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needle and a 22 stitches and 30 rows in stockinette stitch gauge measuring 10 cm/4″ square. In the end, I decided to make a crew neckline and to knit a cowl that could also be used as a belt. The pattern is graded into sizes XS to 5XL with a bust circumference of 99 to 175 cm/39 to 69″. I am wearing size S with 18 cm/7″ positive ease in these photos that Michael took in our front garden in December, while we still had plenty of snow. Yarn kits with an English or Norwegian pattern will soon be available from Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, while the individual pattern will be test knitted in my Ravelry group starting 16th of May before release. New Design: Jari

Inspired by an oversized pullover with a large cable panel and a bottom tuck is my new design Jari. I have used a bottom tuck earlier, but this time I combined it with both Double seed stitch band beneath it and a reverse stockinette stitch band above it. The result is Jari where I discovered a perfect cable panel in one of Barbara Walker’s stitch dictionaries, above the tuck with stockinette stitch in the sides as well as on the sleeves. On the back I decided to make only two central cables. The yarn I decided to use for this project is the Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Ask – a combed wool yarn in the lovely shade called Melange Clear Apple Green. Continue reading
